Narconon Newsletter 07-10-2007Welcome to the Narconon Newsletter. When a student completes the Narconon programme he or she usually gives a speech to the staff and students. Family and friends are also often present. Here is what one student who recently completed the programme said:- "Here goes, It was Monday 16th April I had been on it all weekend & I had an appointment to go to the doctors at a drop-in centre called the Avolon. I had been very short of work for a month, prior to this I'd been on very good money. As per most Mondays I went to the Ledgends club to meet the rest of what we call the "Monday Club". For those of you who don't know, this is a term I use for people who don't really know when the weekend should start or stop. Knowing full well about the doctors at the Avolon centre I carried on regardless. When I next spoke to the doctor he assessed the situation & said "Well, let's just say you qualify & need to go to a rehab", he made a call & came back to me. "There's a 10-12 week waiting list at the Avolon rehab centre", "Really that's nice" I said "but in my present mind I don't think I've got that long." I went home and called a referral website who gave me choices of 3 private rehabs. I chose the cheapest which was Narconon and with help from my parents this became possible for which I thank them. Then with a call to Dale (about the place) and after seeing the website I couldn't wait. Dale finished up the call with "Don't forget to bring your bathers you'll be in the sauna soon!" But joking aside we all owe him a huge thanks for without him you lot wouldn't be listening to this speech. The Tuesday morning came round & I started drinking. My dad came and got me from the pub about 3.30pm & we left for Narconon. My old man had set the g.p.s., we were getting closer & closer the g.p.s. put us right at the bottom of the gates of the drive. "Help" I thought & came up with something quick. "Dad, Dale said to me if you need a drink or you're going to have one do it before you get here as it's going to be your last one" so we went in search of a boozer. A few more pints and then I was ready. I suppose I couldn't put it off for ever. We arrived to a warm welcome from Dale. I've truly
enjoyed every moment here as the break from society was equally
important to me as the course. I would love to thank all the staff who
have been great & I'm sure patient at all times and most of all, all of
you (my friends who are straight I have 19 numbers on my phone & not one
of them takes drugs). My drug career started in 1987 at school with a
bit of Blow - right the way through with what ended as a coke habit
alongside the abuse of drink. I was caught up in the explosion of the
illegal rave scene and then the clubs Pills that would rake your head
off, well let's just say I never quite grew up or got out of it like
most. But I can't change that & it doesn't really matter anymore. Do I
regret it? No because I wouldn't be the person I am now. My aim is to
look forward to a nice future of happiness with my wife & child who I
would like to thank for putting up with me. To speak to one of our counsellors please phone 0800 169 4803. Best Regards,
