Narconon Newsletter 02-04-2008

Welcome to the Narconon Newsletter.

Tom is our most recent student to graduate from the programme. His graduation was held here at Narconon Hastings on Friday 28th March. Tom flies off to sunny Spain for a few weeks and then returns to the centre to work here as a volunteer. We look forward to welcoming Tom back, not as student but as a member of the team that is helping others.

The majority of the staff here are themselves graduates of the programme, the turn-around from being helped to helping others complete.

Here is Tom's story:

"It was the 1st of July in 2007 when I came into Narconon Hastings. I had been living over in a small village in Spain. I had been living there for 2 years and I enjoyed being there for that time but I did not realise that I was turning into an alcoholic.

I was there with my mate Eric and we would both go out every night to the 4 bars in our village and stay there from morning to the next morning and meet up with other English friends and visit all 4 bars and then all go down to the local camp site by the lake, which was owned by one of the Great Train Robbers from back in the sixties. He would have wild parties there.

My friend Eric could see that my health was at risk because I would stay in bed sometimes for days at a time being very ill with alcohol poisoning.

He was sure I was killing myself and he did not know what to do for the best so he called my daughter Samantha who has been a nurse for 22 years and has seen what abuse of drugs and drink can do to your body, She brought me back to England as she knew I had to get help quickly.

She found Narconon on the internet and got in touch with Dale and she told him my story and he agreed for me to come into the house the same day.

I was unsure if I could handle coming into a rehab, as I had only read about it in the newspapers and on TV and I thought they would be full of killers and very bad people to be around.

But it showed me how people's minds work as it was the complete opposite to that as I have never been around such nice people in my life.

I have felt like part of a large family and with good friends all willing to help each other and a great group of friends to be with.

I have had good times at Narconon and I feel proud of myself that I had the balls to finish the whole course and I hope that youngsters in the house have the same feelings I got from achieving my goal and I know it will put them on the road to a better and happier life in their futures.

I would like to thank all the staff at Narconon for their kindness and help they give to all the students.

And I would like to thank Matt and Helen for their help in getting me through the books and the whole course.

I know it will help me to have a better life out there without me turning to drink anymore as I don't need it to destroy my body again.

And I will pass on the work they do at Narconon to help save others from ruining themselves.

I wish every one of you the best of luck in your futures when you leave here. And I will be back to see you all again.

Love to you all."
