Narconon Newsletter 02-04-2009

Welcome to the Narconon Newsletter.

Here is what one former alcoholic had to say about her experience on the Narconon programme.

Narconon Student - June at her graduation"Well how did my journey start: I was an alcoholic in the cycle of addiction I had been really trying for three years to stop with no success.  I got worse - the withdrawals were awful; the merry-go-round of doctors, medication, psychiatrists, even hypnotist didn’t put halt to my addiction.  The vicious circle was awful I was dying, I couldn’t even drink in the end my body, mind and spirit was slowly ebbing towards insanity that is the only way I can explain it.

A wife, mother and grandmother at aged 46 and my life was in a state of devastation.  I made contact with Narconon through the internet after yet another visit to the hospital.  Ali, a wonderful lady, rang me back within the hour.  She invited me to visit the centre and see what was on offer.  I never did, I wish I had, I might have saved myself another visit to the hospital.  For two weeks Ali kept in contact, ringing me just asking how I was.  She had been a student at Narconon and told me all about herself very honest and explained what was on offer here at Hastings Narconon.

What was on offer was a drug-free withdrawal with twenty four hour support.  A full detoxification programme which is fantastic! It removes all to toxins, drugs, alcohol, etc out of your body.  Then a programme of study; where skills are attained by the individual to maintain a drug-free life.  I eventually asked Ali to come and get me; I wanted what was on offer.

I had enough, I wanted to live.

Ali arrived at my house with Michelle, who was a student.  They helped me pack and assured my family that I would be fine and after I had finished withdrawals they would be very welcome to visit.  Withdrawals were good I was given a lot of support and care plenty of rest it took a week.  I then did some therapeutic routines and into the sauna where I sweated out all the toxins, it was an amazing experience, I laughed and I cried during that time, but came through it feeling fantastic.  I didn’t crave a drink, I looked younger, my skin, my eyes, my body shape.  I was like a brand new woman.

I then studied through the books.  I learned new life skills which were vital for me.  Tolerance, love, honesty, truth to name just a few.  My physical body had changed it was healthy and people noticed.  I could sleep, before I was restless always tired, anxious and agitated.  My mind began to clear and the books helped and guided me through for me to learn.

The staff have been amazing, and the fellow students, the support and encouragement got me through.  I had tried group therapy before it wasn’t for me I just wasn’t comfortable speaking in front of others.  Here each student is an individual and is handled as such - not one-size-fits-all.  The staff know exactly how hard it is, many of them are former students so they really know.

What would I say to anyone who was considering coming here? Do it! What have you got to lose.  Me my experience was it was tough at times especially leaving my home, husband and children.  Yet I was not functioning and I knew it, so emotions aside, Narconon was an option worth giving ago.  I gave it a go and it was the best thing I have ever done, I graduated on 27th March 09 exactly four months.  I have changed beyond belief; my life is overfull with happiness beyond the cost of money.

I now consider myself NOT an alcoholic anymore; a big statement for me."

June.

Best Regards,
