Welcome to the Narconon Newsletter.
Today I'd like to share with you a success story from one of our current students.
"After 35 years of drinking I had basically
had enough. I had numerous seizures in my attempts to cut down
and stop drinking and I was beginning to feel suicidal. With
the last seizure I was admitted to A&E and then transferred to
the Mental Health Unit due to my delicate state of mind. There I
was medically detoxed for ten days and was soon due for a
medical and psychiatric assessment. A close friend of mine, who
had done the Narconon programme 12 years ago, was concerned that
if I had been released into an uncontrolled environment, that I
would have been drinking again and soon dead. She was right. So
fortunately she got together with the patient’s advocate at the
hospital and contacted Narconon and it was arranged for me to
come here.
On arriving here at first it was all a bit strange to me. I had never been to rehab before. I relaxed after a couple of days when it was clear to me that everyone here was here to help me. From then on, I went from strength to strength. I have not fully completed my programme yet but at this stage I feel a lot more positive in my thoughts towards the rest of my life. Communication between myself and all the members of my family is so much better and I generally feel a lot happier and better.
Recently I accompanied a staff member to collect someone who was coming to start the programme. The man was in a very similar position to what I was four months ago and within the 2-3 weeks that he has been here I can see a massive improvement in him already. The whole experience made me realise how much the programme has helped me in these few short months because looking at him was like looking at myself back then. Also watching other students go through various stages of the programme and seeing the changes in them is good to see. If you want to make a change and you are determined enough then it’s definitely worth a few months out of your life to have the opportunity to change your life. I’m really pleased that I came here because now I’ve got the chance to carry on a happier life."
